About the Artist

All my life I have been arranging flowers, creating pleasing still life arrangements, and experimenting with color and shape.  After playing in various forms of art, I became intrigued with watercolor and discovered a new passion.

I have been fortunate in traveling to distant shores in South America, Asia, Europe, Australia and Africa, delighting in photographing many subjects.  Two safari trips to five countries in Africa have inspired many paintings of African wildlife.  I paint what I love and have been smitten by images of African animals and people.

I paint impressions in a colorful, playful, whimsical, sometimes-distorted manner from my own photos, many times using several at a time, blending ideas to visually entertain.  I suggest rather than detail, and hope that the viewer will make his or her own emotional reading of my work.  Recently I have been painting abstract collage and acrylic as well, just letting my brush and mood lead the way.  I am open to opportunities and each project teaches me something new.  I hope that others will be able to find as much pleasure in viewing my art as I have had in creating it.

I am a member of Watercolor Society of Oregon, the Village Gallery, and Westside Artists.
